I Want To Make Use of This Newsletter

Lovely Little Things

So, I have this newsletter that I created called Lovely Little Things, and the idea was that I would post about the small things in daily life in a conversational way and maybe that would create something of a community.

I haven’t posted because I have a lot of anxiety about casual posting. This newsletter has 8 subscribers, and I’m afraid of disappointing you.

The whole point was that I wasn’t going to make any promises, so no one could be annoyed at the poor quality or insignificant content. That somehow made it harder in my mind, like, instead of just an observation, I had to write a profound bit of poetry (after all, it’s supposed to be “lovely.” It says so right in the title).

I care a lot about how I impact other people. If I can’t be sure that my impact will be positive, then I avoid it altogether, which isn’t really the best practice for a writer.

However, I’ve been craving connection, lately, and thinking about ways I could foster more connection, and this is one of them.

Starting is always the hardest part, isn’t it?

Earlier this week, I did a tarot reading, and it suggested that for me to heal what was currently ailing me (I can’t go into the details of what’s ailing me, maybe some other time) was the reversed Strength card. I took this to mean that I need to understand the strength in yielding, like how a tree sways to stay upright in strong wind.

The strength of yielding is something that’s especially hard in this culture. We’re always barking at each other about how we need to make things happen the way we want them to happen, rather than acknowledge that adaptability and flexibility is really our biggest strength as a species.

Anyway, I want to keep this short, but I hope to start making it more often. Please stop by and say hello in the comments if that’s something you’d like to do.
