Hi, I'm Amy. I write flash memoir and memoiristic essays and you can find them right here.
To me, memoir is about being seen in a complete and honest way. I write to excavate whatever truths are to be found in my every day experiences and then I offer them to the reader. I hope, then, for recognition or resonance.
I spent 10 years working on a memoir that I'm now trying to get published.
I also write fiction.
I currently live in Southern California, not too far from where I was born, but I wish I still lived in Tokyo, where I lived for 6 years. Before that, I had a rowhouse Philadelphia for 13 years, which is a place I'd ended up in by accident.
I've studied art, art history, karate, yoga, Buddhism and integral health. I like existentialism and physics. I hike regularly and miss the ballet classes I've attended over the years.
I'm Japanese-American and a late-diagnosed autistic woman.
Please feel free to reach out and leave a comment. You can also find me on Substack and Bluesky.
